When your head aches you feel blinded, like you will pass out. Your eyelids hurt, the nerves on your forehead throb, and you feel terrible. And the worst thing is that your head has been aching rather frequently. You are scared of taking a nap in the afternoon for the fear of a niggling headache taking giant proportions, and too much sun or noise doesn’t make your head feel any better.
There are several factors that cause headaches ranging from acidity, staying out for too long in the sun, migraine, noise pollution among others, but for every kind of headache we suffer, over-the-counter painkillers such as Combiflam or Disprin are the only things that come to our rescue. These drugs work effectively on you, but are you aware of the damage you are doing to your health by popping them like candy every time your head aches?
Lets face it, you will have headaches. Then why not switch to some natural ways to eliminate them that are healthy and safe, and so easily available in your kitchen. We list some magical kitchen remedies to cure that nagging headache you get every so often.
1. Inhale an essential oil
Essential oils such as lavender oil are a great remedy to curing intense headaches. The best way to practice this would be to pour just a few drops of the lavender oil on a handkerchief or tissue paper and inhale it deeply. Else add a couple of drops of lavender oil to two cups of boiling water and take in the steam. You can even mix a few drops of lavender oil with a tablespoon of olive oil and massage your forehead with it. Your headache will vanish in less than half an hour, and so naturally.
2. Do some easy stretch exercises
This is another great way of curing headaches. How about moving your chin from left to right, then upwards and downwards, and then bend your neck sideways from right to left and then left to right towards your shoulder. In order to relax the muscles on your neck and shoulder you can even rotate your neck first clockwise and then anti clockwise.

3. Apply cinnamon paste on your forehead
Did you know that cinnamon has miraculous abilities to treat headache? For this, you need to grind your cinnamon rolls into a fine powder and add enough water to make it a thick paste. Now apply this concoction on your forehead, going over your temples, and leave it on for about half an hour. Remain lying down while the potion works its magic. Rinse off your forehead with warm water, and there won’t be any headache.
4. Drink some ginger juice
Ginger too is a wonderful remedy for curing bad headaches because they stave the inflammation of the blood vessels in your head. This in turn lowers the pain. The best way to make this work is by mixing equal portions of ginger juice and lemon juice and blending it well. You need to drink this mix at least twice a day to get relief from a pounding headache. Ginger helps quell migraine attacks very effectively. You can even make a paste by combining two tablespoon ginger powder with two tablespoon water. Apply this on your forehead and temples and lie down for about half an hour. Get up and rinse off with warm water. Your headache would have subsided.
5. Apply ice pack on your neck
You can apply an ice pack on the back of your neck to get relief from a severe headache. Ice quells the inflammation of the blood vessels that cause headache. Another way to cure headache is actually a hot therapy, where you need to soak your feet in hot water, and in just a few minutes your headache would have subsided.
6. Inhale some crushed cloves
Cloves are known for their pain relieving and cooling effects. The best way to use it for your headache would be to crush some cloves and put them in a clean tissue paper or handkerchief and wrap it well. Now inhale the aroma of the cloves through the handkerchief, you will get instant relief.
7. Inhale the steam of apple cider vinegar
You can use apples or apple cider vinegar to cure your headache as they work in restoring the body’s acid-alkaline balance. You can combine half cup of apple cider vinegar with half cup water and bring the mixture to a boil, keeping it covered all the time. Take it off the heat and gradually inhale the steam. You will get instant relief from headache.
