Many women have long hair but unfortunately they are too thin and lack volume. Thin hair or ‘fine hair’ is quite common problem women face in their everyday lives. Their hair lacks the natural volume and bounce, and to get that they resort to chemical treatments or use expensive hair products on the market. Usually these methods do more harm than good, and your hair still ends up feeling light and lifeless.
To turn your thin hair, thick and voluminous, just raid your kitchen for some very basic ingredients, and you will be surprised how thick your hair will grow within a few weeks of using them.
1. Henna leaves paste
Henna leaves strengthen hair follicles and make them thick and restore the natural colour of the hair. Those suffering from hair breakage and premature ageing can benefit from this hair mask.
How to apply: Take three tablespoon henna powder, depending on the length of your hair, and blend water to it to form a thick paste like consistency. Experts advise you add green tea to the mix as it is a natural conditioner and source of antioxidant. Let the paste remain overnight. In the morning, crack an egg into the mix and add two teaspoon lemon juice. Blend it well and apply it generously on your hair, going over every stand. Allow it to dry for about 30 to 45 mins and rinse off with a mild shampoo. Do this twice a week for at least three weeks and see the difference in your hair texture.
2. Fenugreek seeds and coconut milk hair mask
Rich in proteins and potassium, fenugreek or methi seeds are a natural cure for baldness and thin hair. It slows down premature ageing and boosts hair growth.
How to apply: Soak three tablespoon fenugreek seeds in water overnight. Now blitz the soaked seeds into a paste of even consistency. Add to it two teaspoon coconut milk/yoghurt, and blend well. Thoroughly apply this mask on your hair covering the scalp and going over each strand. Allow it to seep in for half an hour and rinse off with lukewarm water. Repeat this ritual thrice a week and in less than one month your hair will be thick and healthy.
3. Castor oil and coconut oil mix
Castor oil is a natural remedy to make your hair thick and bouncy. It also protects against hair breakage, promotes hair growth owing to its richness in fatty acids and Vitamin E.
How to apply: In a small bowl take two tablespoon each castor oil and coconut oil and blend it well. Now massage your thin hair for five minutes with this mix, particularly your scalp. Then brush your hair in order to spread the oil well through your hair. Make sure there are no tangles. With a hot towel cover your hair, and leave it on for about one hour. Then rinse off with a shampoo. You can try this recipe at least once a week for three weeks and your hair will become thick and shiny.
4. Egg and olive oil hair mask
The natural protein in eggs promotes hair growth and even boosts the texture of your hair.
How to apply: Take a egg yolk, two teaspoon olive oil and a teaspoon water and mix it well. Apply it on your hair going from root to tip. Allow it to dry up for about 20 minutes. Rinse off with a mild shampoo. Do this thrice a week and in less than a month your hair will become thick and smooth.

5. Honey hair mask
Honey is easily one of the greatest cure for thin and fine hair. It is loaded with vitamins and minerals, and little wonder it is a widely used beauty ingredient. It protects hair from damage, makes the follicles strong and adds volume to your hair.
How to apply: In a bowl take three tablespoon honey and dilute it with two teaspoon water. Mix it well and apply it on your hair, covering every strand. Cover your hair with a towel or wear a shower cap as you allow it to seep in for about half an hour. Rinse off with lukewarm water and shampoo. Use this twice a week for three weeks for best results.
