I have been a great believer in kitchen remedies, but couldn’t come up with anything fruitful for my pimple and acne problem. Then one day I suddenly remembered an incident from my childhood, when my grandmother advocated the use of coconut oil to cure all skin-related problems.
In reality coconut oil is a natural moisturiser and a great skincare agent mainly for its anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. Then I thought about those people who say coconut oil prompts breakouts on the skin. Perhaps it has something to do with the composition of your coconut oil, and how you use it. But I proved my detractors wrong as I have used coconut oil successfully to treat my acne and pigmentation problem.
Why coconut oil is ideal to treat acne
Aside from being an antibacterial and having anti-inflammatory properties, coconut oil is rich in several natural acids, Vitamins A, D, E, phosphorous, calcium among many other nutrients. And it is this chemical composition of coconut oil that makes it a grade A skincare ingredient. It easily penetrates into the skin without clogging the pores, fights free radicals, bacteria and reduces skin inflammation, redness, rashes, and dark spots. Also being a natural moisturiser, those with dry skin particularly can benefit from coconut oil.
How I used coconut oil to cure my acne
You can use any form of coconut oil, though the cold-pressed version of it is the most effective since it retains maximum minerals in the production process.
Method 1: Warm two teaspoon coconut oil and then using your fingertips apply it in a circular motion over your acne and dark spots. Let the oil be absorbed by the skin for about 15 minutes, then wipe off with a warm towel. Repeat this ritual twice daily for at least two weeks. My skin cleared up in the first week of application, there were no new breakouts and the acne scars had also started to fade.
Method 2: Alternatively, you can also blend a few drops you coconut oil with your daily skincare products to maximise its benefits. For instance, add a few drops of coconut oil to your face wash and wash your face with it every morning. Or you can add it to your moisturiser and apply it to your skin. This too yields results, in case you are still skeptical about applying it directly on your face.

Allow it to dry for 15-20 minutes. Rinse off with lukewarm water, and apply some moisturiser. Your skin will instantly feel smooth and nourished, and in less than a month all scars, pimples and spots on your face will disappear.
