Its nice to get a light tan, but often we don’t tan in that mild way. The tropical sun is rather harsh and darkens our skin to a degree to make it look sunburned. While there are several sunscreen lotions on the market, but none that save you from getting a deep tan. It becomes more challenging to then get rid of that sun tan and to return to your original complexion.

After a bad sun tan, we usually wait for the skin to take its natural course to slowly come back to its original colouring. But that is a long and frustrating process, and you end up feeling pretty helpless.

You don’t have to be so stressed about getting sunburned anymore, for there are some easy home remedies available in every kitchen that work best and fastest in removing an ugly sun tan. No more wasting money on expensive cosmetics and hitting the salon for skin repair treatments. Just try these simple DIY home remedies, and you are going to be very pleased.

1. Cold milk treatment

This is a sure shot and an extremely effective way of removing a bad case of sun tan. For this you need to dip a cotton swab into a bowl of cold milk about one tablespoon, and apply it over the affected areas.

Rub the part thoroughly for about 4 minutes. Now leave it on for about 5 minutes. Rinse off with cold water.

Do this everyday for at least a couple of weeks and all the tanning will be gone. The lactic acid and vitamins in milk make it a natural skin whitener, also milk helps nourish your skin by making it softer and smoother. Moisturise your skin with a lotion.

2. Brown sugar, lemon and coconut oil scrub

To make this you need three tablespoon of brown sugar, juice of half a lemon freshly squeezed. Blend it together, now add to the mix a few drops of coconut oil and combine properly.

This is a sun removal exfoliator and removes sun tan in just one week. Aside from the exfoliating properties of brown sugar, it also removes the dead skin cells and the rough edges on the skin. So, scrub your skin with this mix for about 3-4 minutes and gently rinse off with cold water.

Repeat this ritual thrice a week for one month and there will be no tan on your body. Lemon juice in the mix acts as a natural bleach and helps lighten the tan, all this without drying your skin. Follow it up with a moisturiser.

3. Multani mitti, ground flour, cucumber and rose water pack

Take equal parts of Fuller’s earth or Multani mitti, and ground flour. Blend a small cucumber and strain its juice. Add the juice of cucumber along with a couple of drops of rose water to this mixture and combine thoroughly.

Your sun tan removal pack is ready for use. Apply this mix in a thick coat on the affected areas, and allow the mix to dry up completely for the next 15 minutes.

Rinse off with cold water. Repeat this ritual thrice a week for two weeks to see the results. The tan would have lightened making way for a fresh, glowing skin. Also cucumber has soothing properties reducing the inflammation and the redness in the tanned area of the skin due to sun’s harmful ultra violet rays. Both multani mitti and ground flour are great cleansing agents that help lighten the tan making your skin naturally fair. Follow it up with a moisturiser.
