After her rebuttal to the photoshopped armpits controversy for the cover of Maxim, actor Priyanka Chopra has suddenly given us some serious armpit goals by bringing the hapless armpits to the fore. So long as the armpits are shaved, we don’t much bother with their daily maintenance, or even with their complexion, which apparently is better appreciated light.
But how many of us are really confident of flaunting our underarms, and comfortable lifting our bare arms in a room full of people. The fact is we are still shy of our armpits and don’t know how to make them look like the skin on the rest of our body.
Try out these very simple hacks made from ingredients readily available in your kitchen, and you too can be the proud owner of armpits as crease-less and fair as Priyanka’s.
1. Orange peel is a perfect remedy to brighten your armpits
Don’t throw away the peel after eating an orange. Instead wrap them up with a muslin cloth and let them to dry in sunshine. Further on, grind the orange peel into a fine powder and mix it up with some rose water or milk. Blend it into a thick paste. Now apply this in your armpits and keep it on for about 10 minutes or till it fully dries up. Rinse it off with lukewarm water. Repeat this process at least thrice a week for better results.
2. Baking soda is a great scrub for your underarms
Make a thick pack using baking soda and rose water. Apply this in your underarms, and allow it to dry for about 10 minutes. Then rinse it off with warm water. Repeat this exercise about thrice a week.
3. Coconut oil improves the texture of your underarms skin
Coconut oil is rich in vitamin E which makes it a great skin lightening agent. You can just take a small amount of coconut oil in your palm and massage it gently on your armpits. Leave it on for about 15 minutes. Rinse it off with soap and warm water. You can do this everyday for lighter and softer underarms.
4. Turmeric, gram flour and lemon pack for smooth armpits
This is probably the more popular one, and is quite a grandma’s remedy. Make a thick paste with besan, turmeric and lemon juice, and apply it generously in your underarms. Allow it to dry properly. Further on, rinse off the pack with lukewarm water. You can easily repeat this treatment thrice a week for better results. You will find the darkness in your underarms slowly subside.
5. Potatoes or cucumber, for lighter underarms
Make thin slices of potato and rub them on your armpits daily, and see the difference in their tone. You can, however, grate potatoes, make a juice and apply that juice in your armpits. Keep it on for about 10 minutes and then wash it off with cold water. Alternatively, you can use a cucumber and follow the same procedure. In under a month you will see a definite glow in your underarms.
