You go out of your way to take care of your hands and feet by pampering yourself with a nice manicure and pedicure every month. You also get some gorgeous nail art, but still you never feel confident about flaunting your hands and feet because of your dark knuckles and toes. You scrub them endlessly with soap but still they remain dark and coarse, and extremely unpleasant. The hand creams and lotions on the market do very little to lighten your dark knuckles and toes, and you feel frustrated about the way they look.

Fret not, it is actually very easy to lighten the colour of your toes and knuckles with some very basic ingredients available in every kitchen. This is perhaps one of the easiest beauty DIY home remedies and in just one week you will have clean and fair skin on your knuckles and toes naturally. Try them, we say.

1. Almond oil therapy

Almond oil has immense skincare benefits. It cleanses and even nourishes your skin while making it supple. Take a couple of drops of almond oil in your palm and massage it on your knuckles and toes in a rapid motion. In just a week the coarse dark skin will become light and soft in these areas. You can massage with this oil once daily.

2. Honey and lemon bleach

Honey is a skin nourishing agent and lemon, a natural bleach. So, take equal portions (one tablespoon each) of honey and lemon juice, and blend them thoroughly. Now, apply this mix on your dark toes and knuckles. Apply it at least once a day for couple of weeks and your will see great results.

3. Lemon and sugar scrub

Scrubbing is a great way to remove dead skin cells which could be one of the causes for dark skin on your toes and knuckles. How about making a scrub with one teaspoon sugar blended with the juice of half a lemon. Mix them thoroughly and apply it over the affected areas and keep scrubbing for at least 5 minutes. Do this daily at least once for 2 weeks and see the results.

4. Egg white, honey and besan pack

Take one egg white, one teaspoon honey and two tablespoon besan or gram flour. Blend it well to form a thick paste. Now, apply this mix over your dark knuckles and toes. Leave it on for about 20 minutes. Then dip a pumice stone in water and massage for about 5 minutes over the affected areas. Rinse off with cool water. You can repeat this ritual thrice a week for two weeks for best results.

5. Moisturising lotion

A good revitalising lotion is also a great way to lighten your dark toes and knuckles. Pour a small portion of such a lotion on your palm and massage it frantically over the affected areas for about 5 minutes till it is thoroughly absorbed by the skin. Do this everyday for one month and you won’t have dark knuckles and toes.

6. Baking soda and rose water treatment

Blend together one tablespoon rose water with one tablespoon of baking soda in a large container. Now you need to soak your toes and knuckles in this mix for about 5 minutes. Further on, slice a lemon into half and dip a half into a tablespoon of glycerin. Now rub this slice of lemon in the affected areas again for about 5 minutes. Rinse off your hands and feet with cool water. Do this twice a week for at least two weeks for better results.

7. The magic of pumice stone

The pumice stone is an ideal instrument for removing dead skin cells that usually show up on the top layer of your skin. Scrub everyday the skin on your knuckles and toes with pumice stone during your bath. Do this for a month and you will find a visible difference in the complexion of your skin in these areas.

8. Rose water, baking soda and glycerin soak

In a large bowl of warm water add a teaspoon of rose water, a tablespoon of baking soda and a teaspoon of glycerin. Mix it well and soak your hands and feet in this for about 10 minutes. Instantly the coarse dark skin on your toes and knuckles will become softer, and fairer too on repeated use.
