While we all want to adapt some quick DIY beauty fixes for cleaner skin, healthier hair and a glowing face, there are some inevitable things we do, more due to force of habit, that are simply disastrous for our beauty regimen. And somehow we don’t end up looking as beautiful as we would have liked to. What with all those lovely home remedies not working their magic on you.

It is a wonderful idea to adapt DIY homemade beauty treatments that are natural and cost effective, but until you get rid of these awful habits, you can never derive maximum benefit from them. Wrinkles, fine lines, hair loss, under-eye bags, pigmentation, dark spots on the skin, stains, blackheads etc are often a result of lack of proper nourishment of the body, which is essential to look and feel healthy.

1. You brush your hair whenever you get the chance

By frequently brushing your hair you end up damaging the hair cuticles causing breakage of hair and eventually hair loss. The hair cuticles tend to flake and strip due to the excess physical pressure on them that brushing too often causes. The worse is to brush wet hair as it leads to massive breakage of hair.

2. Blow drying your hair on a regular basis

You love to run the blow dryer quickly over your mane for a neater hairdo. But did you know the heat generated from blow dryers strips the hair off its natural serum leading to dull and frizzy hair.

3. You like to tear off your split ends

Because you are too lazy to get a haircut, you’d rather ideally split those split ends. But did you know that this retards the growth of your hair, and makes your hair prone to damage and hair loss. 4. You don’t bother to remove your makeup before going to bed

You are usually so tired when you hit the sack that you never care to remove the makeup. This is extremely detrimental to your skin as makeup splits the elastin and collagen in your skin accelerating the process of ageing. 5. You can’t resist a hot water bath

Particularly in winter you prefer to bathe in hot water, in fact hotter the better. But by exposing your skin to such hot water, you are stripping the natural oils from it making it dryer and duller over time. Your skin can become permanently damaged due to prolonged use of hot water. Also hot water on the hair damages the roots and strips your hair off its natural serum making it prone to breakage and frizziness. No wonder, you have been complaining of hair loss for a while now.

Did you know that by constantly playing and fidgeting with your hair, you make it vulnerable to breakage. 9. Covering your wet hair in a towel

After bath, we all tend to wrap our hair instantly in wet towel. Your hair shafts in the wet state are very loose and with even a little stress on the hair follicles due to friction produced by the towel can lead to hair breakage. Especially when you use a leave-in conditioner, the effects of the conditioner is subdued by the towel. If you wish to avoid hair loss, don’t instantly wipe your wet hair with a towel.
