Hyperglycemia or high blood sugar is a grave cause of concern for many as it is at the heart of any diabetes control plan. Those with Type-2 diabetes are at potential risk if their blood sugar levels shoot up, a condition in which your body cannot process sugar. You end up frequently urinating, gradually your urine gains a dark shade and you body is always dehydrated. To prevent health complications it is imperative to treat symptoms of high blood sugar immediately.

Suggested are some early signs of high blood sugar which you should never ignore. And if you have any of these symptoms do see your doctor immediately.

1. Your mouth feels very dry and you get up to pee several times at night

Heightened sugar levels can lead your body to pull fluids from your cells into the bloodstream and deliver it to your kidney. One of the primary reasons why you always have a bloated bladder and feel dehydrated all the time.

2. Don’t be a couch potato

If you have been leading a sedentary lifestyle, its time for a move on. Get out of that couch and embrace some workouts. Jog in the park, practice yoga or sweat it out at the gym. Even if you make it a habit to take the stairs everyday you will see the small aches in your body slowly subside aside from keeping illnesses at bay.

3. Digestion problems and wounds take long to heal

Typically a surge in the blood sugar levels can upset your digestive system. High blood sugar can bring about chemical changes in the nerves and affect the blood vessels that carry nutrients and oxygen to the nerves. This affects the movement of food in the intestines by often slowing it down. It is also observed that cuts and bruises take rather long to heal in cases of surge in blood glucose levels.

4. When you feel tired all the time

Do you know that fatigue is not always owing to lot of physical labour, high blood sugar can well be the cause of that. When your body feels drained very easily, by lifting something heavy or just walking a few meters, visit your doctor to check you blood sugar levels. High glucose levels in the blood can induce hunger making you gain sudden weight and also cause your skin to constantly itch.

5. Poor memory and concentration

Even if you are not suffering from Type-2 diabetes, high sugar levels in the blood can actually impair your brain. Just as those suffering from Type-2 diabetes are at an increased risk of developing cognitive impairment which includes dementia. If you feel distracted all the time, find it hard to concentrate and remember the most recent events, check with your doctor once.

Even if you are not yet overweight you need to control your diet. Make sure you strike off all the junk food from your daily diet and include more healthier options.
